Graphics - CPD Workshops 2020/2021

You’re very welcome to this brief Guide to the materials for the Graphics CPD Day 2020/2021. This Guide is intended to provide an overview of the content, messages and discussion points of the CPD materials as you engage with them as an individual, a group of teachers or as a Subject Department. The materials will be helpful for teachers who may not have been able to attend the workshop in Graphics on their cluster CPD day 2020/2021, for newly qualified teachers or for teachers teaching Graphics for the first time in Junior Cycle. The materials will also be of interest to teachers who attended the CPD workshop in their cluster day 2020/2021 and who would like to revisit the materials.

While the workshop ran over three sessions on the cluster day, we have divided that into two shorter sections for you to engage with online. We have included an overview (in the form of a blurb) with each set of materials, indicating the core content of the PowerPoints, videos or other materials. Each overview will help you to discern what the section entails or what section you would like to revisit in the time you have available.

Learning Logs

There are two learning logs developed to support Graphics CPD 2020/2021. The digital version is hyperlinked to all supporting resources and relevant documentation. The print version is designed to allow teachers engage in activities and reflective practice throughout the day.

Presentation Part 1 and Supports

Presentation Part 1 explores both Classroom-Based Assessments and the incremental development of skills in Graphics over the course of the student's learning journey.

Presentation Part 2 and Supports

Presentation Part 2 explores ongoing assessment to support all learners and a sample unit of learning. Teachers are given an opportunity to engage with self-directed pathways (please see section below for further details). Updates are provided on final assessments in Junior Cycle Graphics.

Self-Directed Pathways

For the afternoon session of the CPD, teachers are given time to engage in one of the following pathways:

  1. Excel Digital Planner, page 7
  2. Linking Level 2 Learning Programmes (L2LPs), page 34
  3. Student Supports: My Geometry Journey & My Design Guide, page 35
  4. CBA 1 – Communicating through sketching, page 36
  5. CAD Supports: Onshape and Tinkercad, page 37

These are accessed via the learning log on the right.
