CPD Workshops 2022/2023

This section contains the professional learning materials and supporting resources used during the 2022/2023 cluster CPD. The materials and resources will further support the professional learning of colleagues at school level, and of those teachers who are new or returning to the subject.

The interactive reflective booklet is an optional tool designed to support teachers in organising their thoughts and learning across the three sessions and while working with their MFL department.

Inclusion in the MFL Classroom

This session explores how to plan for inclusion in the Modern Foreign Languages classroom by developing learning experiences that scaffold for access and challenge for each student.

The four Padlets explore classroom planning in each of the four languages to support each student being able to access the learning while also feel challenged in their learning.

This interactive, digital resource explores teaching and learning strategies that support access and challenge in the Modern Foreign Languages classroom.

These three resources support the inclusion of students following Level 2 Learning Programmes (L2LPs) in MFL classrooms. The Padlet explores a learning experience designed to include students accessing level 2 and level 3 learning. The linking document suggests links between level 2 Priority Learning Units (PLUs) learning outcomes and level 3 MFL learning outcomes. The PLUs learning outcomes poster will support teachers of MFL to explore links between level 2 PLUs learning outcomes and level 3 MFL learning outcomes.

Developing Students as Independent Learners

This session explores tools and strategies to support the development of students as increasingly independent learners across their learning journey in junior cycle Modern Foreign Languages.

The four Padlets support teachers to examine how success criteria may be used to support peer and self assessment.

These two resources explore how students might be supported in implementing feedback to progress their learning.

This interactive digital tool supports teachers in developing student capacity to reflect on and consider what is currently happening in their learning to inform future progress.
