Teachers of English joined us recently for our webinar on oral language development, which focused on the rich possibilities open to us across a wide range of formats and genres. Several strategies to enhance students`speaking, listening and communication skills were touched upon whilst think, pair, share was explored in some detail. To delve a little deeper, you can access ten different strategy sheets here
We also took a close look at the oral language learning outcomes in the English specification, highlighting common threads: the focus on students studying oral texts; on listening actively for a range of different purposes; on tuning into language, register and word choice and applying this to their own communication. Maintaining an awareness of why they are speaking and who they are speaking to, as well as working with their classmates to offer each other feedback, collaborate and express their thoughts and feelings also emerged strongly from our tour of the learning outcomes. The second half of our webinar focused on the oral communication task, exploring all of the details we need to help our students to showcase learning in the areas outlined for the task. Participants kept us on our toes throughout with insightful questions, queries and comments, all of which will be available here shortly, when the recording and written transcript of the webinar goes live.
Thanks for joining us to make our webinar such a success. We are looking forward to the next one already!
